Christmas week

Date: 19th Dec 2018 @ 8:45am

Hello everybody,

Sorry for not updating the blog for the past few weeks, I now totally understand when schools refer to the final few weeks of the autumn term as 'the madness of Christmas'! So as we approach the final days of this term it's quite nice to reflect on all the great work that the children have done and all the new learning that they have had. Our topic of the Ancient Egyptians has certainly caught their imagination and there were many questions last week about the process of mummification - a warning to any siblings that may 'annoy' over the holidays!

We completed our Talk For Writing block on 'Winter's Child' by Angela McAllister last week and there were some excellent pieces of independent writing around the theme of wishing for something. On a similar note I would like to pass on my praise for the fabulous writing that the class are producing for homework. I know that many of you encourage and support your children to complete the English homework, and I hope that they are enjoying writing their pieces as much as I have enjoyed reading them - the snowmen taking over the world was a particular favourite of mine!

Yesterday we had our Christmas party with Year 4 which involved lots of games, music and dancing, and a great time was had by all (as you can see from the pictures attached). We are now in the final stages of rehearsing for our Christmas service tomorrow, and I hope to see many of you there. We will be leaving school to walk to the church at 1:30pm.

Finally, I would like to thank everyone for their support, good wishes, cards and gifts this term; I hope that you have a lovely Christmas and a prosperous start to the New Year.
