Reception's Blog - WB Monday 23rd November 2020

Date: 26th Nov 2020 @ 8:58pm

This week really seems to have flown by in Reception.

In Literacy, we have begun to write sentences. Our hook lesson was based around a letter sent from Juniper Jupiter and she told us all about the cat she was looking for. We obviously wanted to do our best to help her, so we made posters, wrote descriptions and then stuck them around school. Our first sighting was on Wednesday evening when one little girl was on the way back from Nanny and Pop’s house, but we are all keeping an eye out over the weekend to see if we can help in any other way.

In Maths, we have been focussing on more and fewer. Most children were confident with using the language ‘more’ but some have struggled when it came to finding ‘less’ or ‘fewer’. We will continue to look at this concept next week, but it may be worth reinforcing this when out shopping, cooking or playing with toys at home.

We have been working hard on our nativity this week and I can’t thank Miss Sherliker enough for everything she is doing to pull it together this year. The children have practised daily with her and are now becoming very confident with their lines. Next week we will be putting it together before filming on Friday 4th December. The nativity will be live on our website on Wednesday 16th December at 4pm, so hopefully you can arrange to be snuggled up in doors with some sweet treats and hot chocolate on that day.

Next week we have a busy week planned with wedding activities, superhero writing, nativity and the carol service performance recording.

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Wellings
