Reception's Blog - Week Beginning Monday 17th June

Date: 21st Jun 2019 @ 8:30am

W/B Monday 17th June 2019

The children have been incredibly excited this week due to our class assembly and non-uniform today. It has been lovely to see them prepare for the visit and think about the pieces of work they want to share.

In Literacy, we have been inventing our own problem stories. We started by planning out some of the characters and events in the story before going on to write down our ideas. Animals, superheroes and unicorns all made an appearance within many stories and they stumbled upon some rather worrying problems. Resolutions and endings were added and each child appeared very proud of their invention.

In Maths, we have been looking at 3D shapes and number bonds to 10. The children were eager to share their homework with their peers and explain what they had created. It is great how they are able to use the names of some 3D shapes as well as talk about some of their properties.

We have been printing using our hands this week to recreate the cherry tree from our story ‘The Something’. After looking at the cycle of a tree through the different season, we went on to identify how we know we are currently in summer.

In addition to all of this, we have been completing our end of term assessments. We are thrilled with how well the children have responded to these and shown wonderful progress. Each child should be very proud of themselves and their achievements throughout the year.

Just a little reminder that it is Sports Day next Friday (Friday 28th June). The children are asked to come in a t-shirt that is the colour of their team (red, blue, green or yellow). If you are unsure of which team they are in, we have put the lists in the window by where you pick the children up.

There is no homework for the children this week as we feel they need some time to rest.

We would like to thank you for your support in the assembly this afternoon as well as throughout the year. We have thoroughly enjoyed sharing the time with each child and hope this has been reflected.

Have a lovely weekend.
