wb 17.9.18

Date: 17th Sep 2018 @ 4:04pm

Maths: we have been working on place value and large numbers, comparing and ordering numbers. This week we are completing this unit by looking at rounding and negative numbers, before moving onto addition with larger numbers. We have worked on the 3,6,9x tables.

English: we are nearing the end of our first unit about the 'Nightmail' poem. We have a little more work to do on our own compositions based around the subject of email. Our next unit of work is based on a book called 'The Princess Blankets'. Spelling is on learning the rules for spelling plurals. Guided reading is on the book 'Holes' by Louis Sachar which the children are enjoying. We have also been practising handwriting.

Science: so far we have looked at how our eyes use light to enable us to see and carried out some reserach on the parts of the eye and what they do. this week we are looking at how we can make light go round corners and how we ourselves can see round corners.

RE: our topic is Good News. This week we are looking at how the Bible tells us that Jesus used metaphors to describe himself in relation to us e.g. I am the good shepherd who lays down his life for his sheep.

We will be having our first topic lesson which is about the Norman Invasion.

In french we are looking at using the correct form of the verb to go with the subject of the sentence. Our verb is habiter (to live) and we are learning when to use je, tu, il, ell, nous, vous, ils, elles.

Thursday is our day out at Clonter Opera to experience a musical theatre workshop. It's normal school uniform please with a packed lunch and a drink.

MyMaths homework has been set today on rounding and there will be the next writing homework on Wednesday - so far so good!
