Year 1 WC 26th November 2018

Date: 1st Dec 2018 @ 8:55pm

Another busy week has flown by in Year 1. Thank you for supporting our Christmas Fair last night. It was great success and it was lovely to see so many of the children there enjoying themselves.

We have been working super hard practising our for our nativity, Straw and Order. Thank you to those who have brought in costumes. We'll be having a dress rehearsal this week so please can they be in by Wednesday.

In English this week we having been focusing on The Great Fire on London. On Tuesday we baked bread as this was how the fire the started. We then wrote some instructions for how to make the bread. We then imagined that we were there in London when the fire was spreading. The children wrote diary entries describing how they found out about the fire, what they saw, how they felt and what they did. I was very impressed with the interesting vocabulary the children were trying to use in their descriptions They are trying incredibly hard!

In maths we have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes. Mr Mottershead has been teaching them to identify the shapes and looking at different ways of sorting them.

In RE we have been discussing the importance of the Bible for Christians. We discussed how the Bible makes Christians feel closer to God as they are reading God's word. It can offer guidance and comfort for some people.

Don't forget that Monday is Polar Express day for Years 1 and 2 so children can come to school in their pyjamas. Our classroom can get very warm so if they are wearing long sleeved fleecey material I would advise having something underneath so they can take it off if they get hot.
