What's happening in Year 4 WC 23.11.15

Maths:

We are continuing with geometry looking at lines of symmetry in shapes and completing symmetrical designs, which we will link to our topic by designing Tudor knot gardens. We continue to do our Times Tables Challenge every week and it is clear to see those who are practising regularly at home. I cannot emphasise enough how important it is for children to know their tables as it will help them with many other areas of the maths currciulum. 

English: 

I am very pleased with the writing all the children have produced so far around our text, Jolly Rogers and the Ghostly Galleon. When Miss Pinky visited last week, they had some super questions for her which prompted some very imaginative ideas about how she ended up with the Key of Souls. I can't wait to start writing our prequels! 

Mr Brown (Holly's dad) has very kindly helped to organise our Bottle Tombola stall at the Christmas Fair. Thank you to those parents who have volunteered to give up some of their time on Friday...but we still need more help. If you are able to help out for half an hour between 5:30 and 8pm, please let me know. It's also not too late to send in your bottles (these don't have to be alcoholic)! 

Next week we are going to the New Vic Theatre to watch Robin Hood. We anticipate to be back at school for 5:30pm but we will update the website on the day to let parents know if we will be late. A snack will be provided by school for the interval, however please can children bring a small, disposable drink.
