Year 1 class blog w/b 26.2.18

Date: 2nd Mar 2018 @ 3:45pm

We have had a lovely week in year 1! This week in phonics we have recapped on the u-e, ew and oo sounds. In English, we discovered a large, red rocket in our classroom and thought about who it belonged to, how it got here and why it was here. We also noticed that it was damaged at the bottom and some children thought that it may have crash landed!

In maths, we focused on counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. If you could support your child at home with this, this would be very beneficial. In RE we listened to the story where Jesus enters Jerusalem on the donkey (Palm Sunday).

We had a super day on World Book Day. We enjoyed an assembly about the joy of books and sharing some of our favourite books with other children in KS1 for a shared read. We then focussed on a text called ‘The Rainbow Bear’ and completed some writing and some artwork around the text.

Just to remind you that our class assembly is next Friday (9th) and parent consultations will be the following week, as well as Stay and Make (Tuesday 12th March- in the afternoon) and our visit to Spaceport (Thursday 15th March). What a busy, but exciting couple of weeks!

Let me know if you have any questions.
