Year 1 class blog w/b 30.4.18

Date: 4th May 2018 @ 1:47pm

We have had a lovely week in year 1. Many thanks for your support with spellings. Thank you to all of the parents that came along to the phonics meeting on Wednesday. For anyone that missed the meeting, please support your child at home by using their phonics pack and playing fun games such as on phonicsplay.co.uk. This will be really useful for your child, because if they do not pass the phonics screening this year, it will have to be retaken in year 2 and it is likely they will have to recap on a lot of year 1 phonics before moving on to year 2 spelling rules. If you have any questions, please get in touch.

In English this week, we invented a story based on the Papaya that Spoke. There were lots of fantastic stories with some great ideas!

In Maths, we multiplied using arrays and then moved on to division (sharing equally). In RE we listened to the story of creation and Adam and Eve, before acting this out. In topic this week we compared Victorian holidays to holidays today and published some topic work for our display.
