Year 2 Class Blog 10.9.18

Date: 14th Sep 2018 @ 3:55pm

We have had another super week in year 2. Many thanks for your support in learning spellings, reading at home and with the Maths and English homework.

Our spelling rule this week was the /j/ sound in dge, ge and gi. Usually dge follows a short vowel like in hedge. Ge normally follows an n or a long vowel as in cage.

In Maths this week we focused on place value, looking at tens and units, comparing numbers using < > and =, and using part-whole models. In English we discovered a dragon’s nest with four eggs! Amazingly, one had hatched! We are keeping the others safe in school, as the mother dragon seems to have flown off. This week we learned the story of the Dragon Machine and completed various writing tasks around the text.

In topic this week we painted dragons in an exciting visit from Little Hearts! We also made dragon eyes with Mrs Taylor and played various games to practise fundamental skills in PE. In Science, we have been thinking about how we stay healthy.

If you have any questions, please let me know.
