Year 4 blog w/b 14th September

Date: 17th Sep 2020 @ 1:58pm

We have had a fantastic fortnight in school. Thank you for your support with homework and reading at home.

Following our assessments, we have been focusing on addition and subtraction with 3 and 4 digit numbers. Next week our focus will be multiplication. Please continue to practise times tables on Rockstars.

Following our accelerated reader assessments, children have been choosing books that are targeted at the correct level based on the test. Quizzes can be completed weekly at school and children earn points for every quiz they complete, with higher quality texts awarding a greater amount of points. Please read daily at home to support your child.

In English we have been enjoying writing about Leon and the Place between. Our focus has been on choosing effective language including expanded noun phrases, as well as plural possessive apostrophes. We have been writing setting descriptions and recounts from the perspective of a character in the story.

In history we have been finding out about the Battle of Bosworth and how the Tudor times began. In RE our focus is Daniel in the Lion’s den and the qualities he showed. In PE, we have been focusing on defending and passing. In art we have been sketching a landscape, while in our outdoor learning session we have been creating a habitat for invertebrates following on from our Science work.

Have a lovely weekend. Please get in touch if you have any queries.
