Year 4 Cautionary Tales

Date: 18th Sep 2015 @ 2:55pm

Year 4 have been reading Jim, A Cautionary Tale which is about a boy who runs away from his nurse at the zoo and as a result gets eaten by a hungry lion.

The children have been very imaginative coming up with alternative endings for Jim and have written their own rhyming couplets . Their work has been absolutely brilliant and I am so proud of what they have produced just two weeks into Year 4.

Here are just a few:

He hadn't gone a yard when CRASH!

Jim had to run as quick as a flash.

Jim had a snack that was too sickly

He had to run around so quickly

Suddenly in the blink of an eye,

He saw a fiesty vulture cry.

Though the vulture saw him look

The vulture didnt move a nook.

In the church Jim did lie,

so every one could say 'Goodbye'.

He hadn't gone a yeard when POOF!

A vulture came on the tiger's roof.

He saw Jim by the lion's cage

Jim spotted the vulture in rage.

Then the vulture made a big stop.

Jim ran into the nearest shop.

The vulture came and swooped him up

And dropped him on a pretty pup.

A lion crept and ate him YUM!

And then all was left was a thumb.

So don't let go of your nurse's hand

Or you will end up below the land.

He hadn't gone a yard, when PUSH!

He got slung into a prickly bush.

He couldn't believe what he saw,

When he thought he heard a lion roar.

He ran and ran and made a stop

but then he hid behind a mop.

The lion took the boy away.

That's the end of Jim's dreadful day.

His mum was very sad he's dead

So off she went, into bed.

That is a lesson to learn

Not to leave and make a turn.

He hadn't gone a yard, when SWOOP!

A hungry vulture flew into a nearby hoop.

Mistaking him for being dead

The famished vulture had to be fed.

As he ran in a rage,

Jim locked himself in an empty cage.

Well at least he thought the place was clear

Jim heard a noise that sounded near.

An angry rhino quick as a flash

Came charging to him ready to bash!

Jim quickly lifted up his head

And before you knew it the boy was dead.

He hadn't gone a yard when CHARGE!

He saw a rhino at large.

He looked at Jim in the eye

And kicked him up in the sky

Unfortunately he was dead

So his mum and dad went to bed.

He hadn't gone a yard when SWOOP!

The vulture went in the loop.

It came flying through the sky

While Jim was eating steak pie

It put his claws in Jim's head

Then Jim was dead.

He hadn't gone a yard when CRASH!

A rhino came as quick as a flash.

Suddenly in a blink of an eye

A bulky rhino came charging by.

The huge mammal charged in rage.

He's quite grumpy because his age.

By Marcus

He hadn't gone a yard when CRASH!

He saw a vulture and made a dash.

And hot madly dropped in the rhino cage

The huge mammal stared in rage.

He ran and ran but he was slow

The angry rhino was on the go!

Poor, poor Jim was eaten

For the young boy was sadly beaten.

By Milly

He hadn't gone a yard when POW!

Jim thought he landed near a cow.

Oh no it was a mad rhino

One run and the rhino made a show.

Sadly this tale ends with the boy being dead.

Jim has now only got a head.
