Year 5 W/b 16th November

Date: 22nd Nov 2020 @ 10:47am

This week the children have been busy writing their diaries in character as the girl from the story Unspoken. There have been some fantastic ideas and I can really see how hard they are all working to improve their work. We have now started our work looking at the features of biography writing and will be reading a number of biographies (Martin Luther King, Josephine Baker and Harriet Tubman) before writing our own in a couple of weeks. Children's English homework this week is linked to this work.

In maths we have completed our work on drawing and interpreting charts and tables and moved onto looking at area and perimeter. We all had great fun making shapes with masking tape and investigating the perimeter.

In history children continued their work on the American Civil War learning about Abraham Lincoln.

In outdoor learning we began work on our Christmas display painting wooden snowmen, elves and reindeer. We can't wait to see it displayed outside Pre School (please see the school newsletter for more information). We have also started learning our Christmas Carol which will be recorded for our virtual Carol service. Additional measures are being taken to ensure we comply with current risk assessments.

In Spanish we are learning phrases used in school and I have included a link below for children if they wish to practise phrases at home.
