Year 5 w/b 6/3/17

It has been a busy week back after half term. 

We have started a new writing text, Varjak Paw, and the children enjoyed a treasure hunt linked to our writing on Tuesday. We have also been using conjunctions to link ideas. Some children have found using conjunctions such as 'despite, although and whereas' challenging. Attempting to use these in sentences at home will really help your child gain confidence.

In maths, we have been working on factors and division. Unfortunately, times tables skills have been an issue and to help, we will be changing our afternoon focus from spelling to times tables. However continuing to practise at home will be a great help.

We have lots to look forward to this week. On Wednesday, we have Mrs Guy and her 'helpers' coming to lead an exciting science session. 

Don't forget, we have an inset day tomorrow and will be back in school on Tuesday.
