Year One - Week commencing 30th September

Date: 6th Oct 2019 @ 3:25pm

Year One thoroughly enjoyed a very interactive science lesson this week.  They carried out experiments to test the absorbency of materials.  In addition to this, their topic lesson involved drawing a compass on the playground floor with chalk to add to their geographical knowledge.  In English, they made some very imaginative plans in preparation for writing a traditional narrative where a good character is trapped by a bad character and has to escape.  They started to write their own versions on Friday and they are great!

In maths, we have moved to using the part part whole model.  All children have grasped this really well!

In PSHE, we are discussing relationships with people who are special to us, starting with our classmates.  All children had lovely things to say about the reasons their friends are so special to them.

All children took a letter home about the stay and make on Thursday at 2pm and a visit to church on Friday morning.

We will have a lesson on Tuesday 8th October about The Great Fire of London.  This will be approached carefully with discussion about how the fire services nowadays compares to that in 1666.

Have a great weekend,

Mrs Baddeley
