Friday 1st March

Date: 1st Mar 2024 @ 3:57pm

This week, we have started our percentages unit. I have set homework later on in the week so that the children have completed some lessons before they attempt the work. In the documents section of the Year 6 page, I have added some guidance on the methods we have used this week and some questions that children may want to try. I have also added a document called 'Revision websites' which you may find useful. As always, if there are any problems, please get in touch.

This week's blog:

By Robert and Freddie

On Monday, we started the day by going to assembly and learning how we are connected outside of school. Once we had finished assembly, we started maths where we learnt about decimals as fractions. After, we went out for break and when we came back we started English which was all about modal verbs. We wrote sentences about wolves and included as many as we could.  After lunch we had PE, where the focus was on cricket skills.

On Tuesday, we started with My Happy Mind and we have started a new topic called Relate. We looked at what makes a good friend and what we can bring to friendships. After, in maths, we learnt about fractions as decimals, which wasn’t too hard! In English, we started our planning and created a mood pallet about the setting for our wolves description. In the afternoon, we completed some maths practice questions then went over these to check we attempted them correctly and learnt how to do them if we got them wrong.

On Wednesday morning, we had worship with Reverend Sandi before we started our first lesson on percentages. We thought it would be really hard but it wasn’t too bad. In Guided reading this week we have looked at some poetry by Carol Ann Duffy.

On Thursday, we carried on learning about percentages and finished our planning in English so that we had lots of ideas to start our own writing. We had music and computing in the afternoon and were talking about how to stay safe online.

Friday morning was a highlight because we met our Reading Buddies and read to each other. In the afternoon, we had Art with Mrs Taylor. We have all found out about our high school choices today so we have been talking a great deal about our new schools and who we are with. It is very exciting!

Hope you all have a nice weekend!
