Pensarn Day 2

Date: 28th Mar 2023 @ 4:50pm

Day 2

After a relatively easy night, a few children did need waking up in time for breakfast this morning!

Mrs McLean’s group started the day with a wilderness skills session, where they built shelters, lit fires, filtered water to make hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows.  The children loved showing off their forest school knowledge and Elena particularly shone!  In the afternoon, they completed two orienteering challenges. It took a bit of practice but the children’s map skills really developed and they had lots of very interesting questions about how compasses work and how we know the earth has an iron core – William particularly challenged our instructor!  We decided to ask Mr Cotton later on this evening!

Mrs Pirie and Mr Cotton’s group took part in gorge walking this morning and everyone was very happy to get involved.  Everyone jumped in and some even did so twice (Harley!)!  The group were particularly encouraging to Mrs Pirie who was a little anxious!  After lunch, they went rock climbing where Essie presented as Spiderwoman and Ethan, Amelia, Emilia excelled at abseiling!  Everyone had a really good go at either climbing or abseiling.  Well done!

Mrs Sant’s group started the day with archery – a particular well done to Bea and William who showed real talent (unlike Mrs Sant who had to keep apologising for letting them down).  A quick lunch, before heading down to the harbor for canoeing.  The wind made it a little tricky but the children enjoyed playing games and jumping in at the end.

Pizza and ice cream for tea tonight, followed by time outside and a rather competitive game of ladders!

All are ready for an earlier night tonight!
