wb 13.2

Date: 14th Feb 2023 @ 11:49am

We have now completed our unit on Multiplication and Division and have begun to explore fractions. We have been looking at how many quarters make a whole and what would happen if we counted beyond 1 in fractions. We have also been considering if Mrs Tice would be jealous if she had 2 quarters of a cake and Mrs McAree had a half.

In English writing, we have been imagining we are sleeping in a forest whilst we run away from the war. Our only solace is our mother and a diary. What would you write in a diary at a time like this? Several of the children were excellent spellers this week- Jess, Kaiden and Noah, in particular- which meant they got to work with the finest speller of them all, Harry Potter!

Our RE theme of Forgiveness has now drawn to a close with the children considering several stories about Jesus. We have retold The Lost Son, often known as The Prodigal Son, and The Unforgiving Servant. We have also talked about Jesus’ forgiveness of Judas as we investigated the Last Supper and the beginnings of Holy Communion.

We have had a very musical week too with both Dance and Strings sessions. Our strings lessons will carry on next half term. Dance will be replaced by Forest School.

And congratulations to Rosamai who competed in the regional gymnastic championships with Sophia in Year 5, both of them winning first place with their team.
