As we near the end of the term, we have had our heads down in our assessments. The children have worked very hard, revising, helping each other in discussions and problem solving and also behaving beautifully in the assessments themselves. I am really pleased with their work this week. Well done, Year 4!

Our story writing is also nearing a close. Not only have the children been completing their stories about the transformation of a playground, but they have also been practising the skill of editing. At first, they edited their own work- a tricky thing to do. Then, they shared with a peer who helped them to make changes based on subjects like punctuation, expanded noun phrases. The language needed for such a task is obviously key and so it was a good excercise for them to help develop their diplomacy and communication skills.

In RE this week, we have got to the events of the night before Good Friday- the Passover meal that we now call The Last Supper. The children thought why Jesus would encourage people to think of the bread and wine as his body and blood and also how key a role Judas had to play in order for events to unfold.

In Forest School, we then took the Easter Week events into Good Friday, making crowns for the condemned Jesus. These we then decorated. The brief was to design a crown from items found on the floor in the forest area. This challenged the children to work out a way of binding the sticks, leaves and twigs they found. Many used a weaving technique. Others were lucky enough to find string.

We completed our work on Online Safety this week too. This time, we refreshed the children's knowledge on what to post or not post when sharing photos or videos. We also recapped how to react online safely and respectfully.

Next week is DT week. We will be looking at levers and linkages and how we can use these to our advantage when designing something that will pick up litter. I'm looking forward to the photos!

Also next week, we have our Easter Service on Tuesday. I hope to see many of you at the church.

Congratulations to Fran, Freddie and yet again Elliot for a wonderful week's work!

Wishing you a sunny weekend.
