Welcome Back Reception!
It was lovely to see all of the children back at school, well rested and eager to catch up with their friends. We have had a very busy first week back and the children are very excited about their new topic. Our role play area is now a wonderful airport (thank you Miss Bailey!) and the children have been busy writing boarding passes, weighing luggage and serving in flight meals! We also have a brand new book area, celebrating our spectacular spotlight author, Julia Donaldson.
In Literacy we have been looking at the African tale, 'How the Tortoise got his Shell.' The children had lots of fun re enacting the story, smashing coat shells and piecing them back together. We then produced some wonderful writing about what we had done.
In Maths we have been focusing on addition, using counters or number lines. Why not practise solving sums at home and post them on your child's Tapestry account?
This week we also received a very special delivery on Thursday...five teeny, tiny caterpillars. We had lots of fun making plasticine butterflies and using food colouring and pipettes to make some beautiful butterfly wings.
Have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing you on Monday for another fun filled week!
