Year 3 blog w.b 14th November

We have had a fantastic couple of weeks in Year 3! Thank you once again foe your support with homework and reading.

 

We have lots of exciting trips for the rest of the term: Chester Zoo, the theatre and the National Waterways Museum! Also, in our final week we are making pneumatic toys using boxes that open (such as tea bag boxes). Please start to bring these in during the month of December ready for our last week.

 

English

In English we were visited by a gentleman called Mr Darwin who was dressed in a suit, top hat and bow tie; he was looking for a young boy called Jemmy Button! We have been looking at a new vehicle text and writing lots of short written pieces practicing our Year 3 features. We have also submitted some fabulous poems based on the Jabawocky by Lewis Carrol! Maths

In Maths, we have been learning how to add 3-digit numbers to 3-digit and subtract including when there’s an exchange (or 2!). We have been estimating and using inverse operations to check our answers as well.

 

Other areas

In PE we have been learning how to defend in netball and football, as well as recapping on passing, footwork and other skills.  In Science, we have been learning about sources of light! In Geography, we have been learning about the water cycle and all about rivers! We have learned lots of new songs using the notes that we have learned.
