York Day 2

Date: 25th May 2023 @ 10:43pm

And again...what a wonderful day. We haven't stopped for breath and are just heading to bed.

A fantastic breakfast inside us, we headed off into town. First stop, Jorvik! This is on the site of an archeological dig that revealed  a Viking village. The children will be able to fill in many gaps and fill you in about the characters reimagined, the market stalls and indeed the toilets!

A stroll through York brought us to their very own archeological dig. Here we uncovered different eras as we lifted the layers of history from the city's roads. We also learnt how to invade and conquer, Viking-style.

On to the Minster. Earlier in the week, we had researched the highlights of this overwhelmingly stunning building. The children were able to guide themselves around and loved this beautiful building. Here we experienced an evening service, intense with reverence and the children behaved impeccably.

Tea, park and bed amazingly brought us to about 10pm. They are at present settling into their pillows and will no doubt sleep well.

Another full day ahead tomorrow...
