Summer!

Thank you so much for all your kind gifts and cards, it was incredibly generous and reading the lovely messages was very special. It has been a wonderful year and I feel very privileged to teach the children again in Year 6.
I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday (hopefully the weather will improve).
In readiness for Year 6 it is important to keep trying some maths and literacy activities over the break. I have asked children to complete 6 short maths and 6 short literacy tasks. These could include calculating the cost of a day out, writing a diary, letters to pen pals, reading a favorite book, converting recipes when cooking (for 6 rather than 4 people etc) or reading information leaflets for places they would like to go to.
I have included a link to a game to try below. Please click on a picture to play the game. I will list more on our school blog, but you could also try any games on the bbc website http://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/ks2/. The games are more challenging the further down the list you go. Once children have tried an activity, please encourage them to add to the class blog and recommend it to others. I can't wait to see how inventive they are!
