Our times tables practice is hotting up in class in preparation for the Tables Check on the week beginning the 4th June. Here are some ideas to support your child at home.

This website is very similar to the actual test: https://www.timestables.co.uk/speed-test/

As ever, do give me a shout if there is more help needed. I'd suggest little and often and focus on one times table each day until they are secure. Then go for a more random approach.

We've had a very exciting week in English as we completed our legend writing. We began with a storyboard, collecting the many ideas of who our hero was, what was the beast they were to defeat, how to defeat them and then the trials they faced during their journey. These were supported by all the Viking knowledge we now have of clothing, weapons and mythical characters.

This week, in Maths, we have completed an assessment of our decimals unit as well as continuing our money work. We have been practising the essential skill of estimating cost and change in real-life situations. Problem solving has been a challenge this week and we will continue this into the beginning of next.

Our Computing and RE units came together as we created PowerPoints of What is inside a...? The children then chose from synagogue, church or Buddhist temple. After some time, they browsed the room picking up information but also design techniques for their own slides.

Due to the glorious sunshine, Mr McAulay took advantage of the weather and taught rounders to Year 4 this week. This will also help the next few tournaments that the school have ahead.

We continued learning physical characteristics in Spanish via the stories of Vikings- very appropriate for Year 4 at the moment. This follwed a wonderful music lesson where everyone acheived the LO- to write and then perform their own composition. Well done to all!

Congratulations to both Isabel and Elliot for completing the Killer Mile in strong sunshine on Thursday. Isabel came 30th out of the girls race and Elliot shaved a considerable amount off his time!

Wishing you a peaceful weekend.
