Week Beginning 10/9/18
Date: 15th Sep 2018 @ 7:21pm
It has been a fantastic week in Y5.
In English, children have continued to study The Nightmail. We looked at another poem inspired by the original called 'Junk Mail' and we have now started to write our own version called 'E-mail'. Everyone has been working hard on their rhyming couplets to keep the rhythm and rhyme of the original. The first English homework will be set on Wednesday and will be due in on Monday 24th September.
In Maths we have continued our work on numbers in the hundred thousands. Children have been correctly placing them on number lines, rounding and challenging themselves with some tricky reasoning problems. We have also revised roman numerals. Take a look at the attached document for a task to try at home. Mymaths will be set on Monday and is due to be completed by Wednesday.
This week we have also looked at web design in ICT, started our first RE topic with Mrs Pulle and taken part in PE. Some children in the class are also working in small groups with Mr Goodwin to increase the sports opportunities on offer. These groups will change throughout the year.
Next week, those that have signed up will begin their music lessons with Mrs Tice and we have a visit to Barclays at Radbroke Hall to look forward to. I will not be in class on Monday but will be in school prior to the start of the day to set work for the children.
The children have been doing incredibly well with their reading. Keep up the good work!
