Our week began with a lovely assembly reminding us to try to 'build each other up', something we have been working hard on throughout the week.
Building on our times tables knowledge, we have now moved on to the 6 times table. We looked at the patterns we could see between the 6 and the 3 times table and how this could help us remember them. Our TTRS login is now back up and I have set a focus for the class. Why not head over to the site and see how your child is doing?
We have been rounding numbers this week to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000 using our knowledge that a 5 or above will round up to the next multiple. This has tested our knowledge of multiples of 10, 100 an 1000. Next week, we will be checking our learning over the past few weeks as we revisit all the areas of the Place Value unit. Then, we will begin furthering our skills in addition and subtraction.
As our English unit draws to a close, we are completing our own paragraphs describing a lonely child out on the sea, searching for an elusive creature. The weather is building to create quite an atmosphere!
In Computing this week, the children have been learning some skills for opening, copying and renaming a PowerPoint. This includes the different multi-touch gestures that we can use on a laptop pad. Next week, we will create our own PowerPoints, looking at why this tool is useful.
RE has seen us wondering what our Goliath moments are. We revisited the tale of David and Goliath, appreciating that David had a lot of character to keep his cool and solve the problem in front of him. His faith was with him and guided him through a very tricky time. The same can be said of Martin Luther King. So, we have been thinking what kind of characters these people showed, the bravery in their heart, supported and led by their faith in God. This was also completmented by our trip to church where Rev Sandi challenged us to spend time reminding ourselves of whta we are good at.
As the week drew to a close, we began to learn our new song for our Spanish unit- all about vegetables.
And our stars of the week were Alberto and Maisie. Alberto gave a lovely talk during our PSHE session all about why it is important to have good manners all the time. Maisie showed great friendship immediately offering to walk with someone who felt left out. Lovely moments in our week- thank you to you both!
We hope you have a lovely weekend and dodge any showers coming your way.
