Year 5 WC 22nd April
Date: 26th Apr 2025 @ 10:26am
Welcome back! We hope you all had a wonderful Easter break and are ready for an exciting summer term. We've had a fantastic first week back.
We began the week with a visit from Clare at Clarity One. She spoke to the children about the law and the importance of making safe, responsible choices.
In Maths, we have started a new topic on shape. We have been looking at angles in quarter, half, three-quarter and full turns. We also looked at how we can describe angles as acute, obtuse, right angles and reflex. Next week we'll be moving on to measuring and drawing angles using a protractor.
In English, we have been very excited to start our new text, The Lost Book of Adventure. We had a look at our character's rucksack which had lots of survival essentials such as a compass, twine, flint and steel, medical supplies, binoculars and a multi-tool. Then we used this to write predictions about the character and the story. This links brilliantly with what we're doing in forest school this half term as the children will be learning how to make fire, cook their own food and build different types of shelters.
In RE, we have been learning about Pentecost. We looked at different pieces of artwork that showed the story of Pentecost and discussed the symbols and feelings shown in the pictures.
I have added the Powerpoint about our trip to London on Dojo. If anyone has problem accessing it or has any questions, please send a message on Class Dojo. One thing I forgot to add is about spending money. Children may bring a maximum of £10 in a named purse.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend.
